In the News In the news Diabetes Drug Gets New Warning Label The Food and Drug Administration gave the widely used diabetes medication, Avandia, a new warning label informing patients that the drug may or may not increase the risk of heart attacks. The FDA says the research assessing the risks associated with the drug is contradictory and inconclusive. Some say the wording of the new label may cause additional confusion by not using layman's terms, stating that the drug 'may be associated with myocardial ischemic events such as angina or myocardial infarction.'
